Maybe the track cars no longer follow the "win on Sunday-sell on Monday" mantra of the past, but the Daytona 500 is still one of the very big events on the annual sports calendar.

Think Kentucky Derby with horsepower instead of horses.

The 1954 Chevrolet had a classic case of Curly (Three Stooges) Howard syndrome because it was also a victim of circumstances.

The '54 Chevy was the last of the retooled models that changed the post-war appearances of this iconic brand from the General.

Car guys are drawn to old gas pumps and vintage oil company signs like politicians to tax money.

The reason is pretty basic-the corner gas station was the kingpin of every neighborhood.
