AUGUST 2010 "STARS IN TRAFFIC" HOT CARS, HOT WEATHER

These are the "dog days" of summer-the point where the thermometer explodes out the top. You see a lot of old iron on the streets in August but what most non-car people don't know is that this heat is really tough on the vintage vehicles.

Old cars and trucks hate it when the daytime readings get over 85 degrees and the traffic is stop and go so they'll quit...

That's why we salute these road warriors for being August 2010 "Traffic Stars".

AUGUST 2010: 1955 PONTIAC- A HAPPY ENDING STORY FOR A GUY AND HIS FIRST CAR

There used to be a universal rite of passage for every kid when he turned 16. The driving force was a first car and the subsequent first burst of freedom for its young owner.

Robbin Dawe had that mindset when he bought his first car in the late 60s as a 16 year old.

And now he's reunited with that first car ....

AUGUST 2010 -1971 PLYMOUTH HEMI GTX-THIS ONE DIDN'T GET AWAY... FOR LONG

Back in the fall of 1970, Al Prizeman made the best decision of his young life-he bought a brand new 1971 GTX with a big and nasty 426 Hemi.

As it turned out, only one other guy in Canada bought a GTX with the Hemi option and...just over 30 people in the rest of the world checked off that monster motor on the list.

Three years later, Al sold it after a disagreement with the dealer.The story could end here...we've heard it over and over but this time there was a happy ending.

CONVERTIBLES: DO REAL MEN OWN THEM OR ARE THEY REALLY JUST CHICK CARS?

This topic has inspired some debate in car circles. There are a few car guys that would rather eat quiche than own a drop top.

Personally we don't feel that all convertibles are automatically designated "chick cars", but some fit the bill more than others.
