A BIZARRE VALENTINES DAY LOVE PLAN:DOING IT IN THE RESTAURANT WASHROOM

imgp6941-1Mildred’s Temple Kitchen in Toronto Ontario has a different plan for Valentine’s Day in their restaurant: They want customers to celebrate the occasion with a little romantic romp in their restrooms. The crucial question arises; is romance in the john the best game plan for this restaurant? Maybe - maybe not.

The big plus is that Mildred’s has just become famous with all of the free publicity from their food and lust program. The negative might be that the publicity might scare away prudish diners.

Mildred’s has attempted to satisfy two primal urges at once with this promotion and, if you added TV, you would have the George (Seinfeld show) Costanza perfect trifecta of fun.

The gamble didn’t pay off for George, but maybe food and sex is a good combination platter for Mildred’s Temple Kitchen.

One problem for the restaurant is their warm and open invitation for a frolic in a porcelain jungle. Most people seek out public places for a fear-of-getting-caught kind of mildly kinky romantic thrill.

Take away the thrill and suddenly you’re left with a very uncomfortable place to rock the Casbah. Fun without risk might not be a big part of the program on a cold ceramic floor in a bathroom, or in a cubicle in a bathroom. BB King will likely be right; the thrill is gone and never coming back under these conditions.

People need that x factor of adventure in their x-rated behavior and Mildred’s may have erased the x in this one.

It also true that other diners may want their restaurant bathrooms for a purely practical but less carnal purpose. Thus an extended hook-up in the only available facility may get in the way of another more common but no less urgent nature call. That may not be a happy dance outside the door of the washroom.

So Mildred’s Temple Kitchen will have an interesting marketing experiment on Valentine’s Day when food and fun will both be on the menu.

The big question for Valentine’s Day at Millie’s will be how many people will buy into the menu specials.
