MARCH 2011:STARS OF THE SHOW-REYNOLDS-ALBERTA MUSEUM "HISTORY ROAD"

A little known automotive jewel in North America is the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin Alberta Canada. This is a world class operation nestled in a small town.

It exists thanks to the foresight and perseverance of Stan Reynolds, a fighter pilot who flew night missions for the RCAF in World War II, well-known car collector businessman and philanthropist.

This is a very large show so this time we decided to break it down and feature the turn of the century cars through to the 1930s and leave the rest of the 20th Century for another month. Stay tuned...

FEBRUARY 2011 STARS OF THE SHOW-THE BARRETT-JACKSON CARS

The "Stars of the Show" section is primarily built around a typical small town car show. There's a simple reason for that-the heart of the old car hobby is found in every small town car show in every small town on the planet.

We like that philosophy at mystarcollectorcar.com.

There is a huge car show in the middle of winter that everybody gets to see because it's on TV-it's called Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. Most MSCC regular readers will know that at best, we're ambivalent about the Barrett-Jackson auctions.

But we're also car guys and in the dark winter days of January we're like everybody else-we look forward to the sunny days and the old iron seen on this multi-day TV show.

There's nothing like talking about classic rides-this TV program may open up debates... but they're car guy debates.

Reality TV with a point.

Despite its shortcomings, there is no argument that the Barrett-Jackson auction has some of the most incredible iron you'll ever see on TV... you don't even have to leave the comfort zone of your couch.

Here are some of the cars of the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction 2011.

Many thanks to Don Sutherland for the pictures-our Barrett-Jackson roving reporter.

JANUARY 2011 STARS OF THE SHOW:LOCAL RIDES-LOCAL GLORY

Throughout the world there's a car show going on somewhere. The last holdout, China is on the verge of an automotive revolution so you can count on a huge Beijing Show and Shine in the near future.

These shows make local heroes out of car guys simply because their rides make them famous-that's a constant in old car world.

Have a look at some local heroes...

DECEMBER 2010 STARS OF THE SHOW...REMEMBER SUMMER?

One thing that really stands out about car show season is that the shows are held in summer weather.

That's a warm thought given that when this was written the temperature was hovering at a comfortable late November -30 in this region.

Here are some shows from the last 3 years to remind us that yes, it will get warm again and you will see this kind of iron next year when the weather gets better...

With all due respect to global warming.

NOVEMBER 2010: STARS OF THE SHOW FROM THE LAST TEN YEARS

Car shows didn't happen overnight-on fact the first car show probably happened when somebody bought the 2nd "horseless carriage" and called the owner of the first "horseless carriage".

These are show stars from a much more recent era-the last ten years.

But like that first car show-they were all a public-friendly event and the classic iron in these pictures sure beats that first 2 entry horseless carriage car show.
