STAR TRUCKIN’ 1967 FARGO LIFETIME WORKING STIFF–RETIREMENT NOT AN OPTION

Fargo was Chrysler Canada’s answer to the Dodge truck nameplate. Found in Plymouth dealerships, these rugged old workhorses, especially the 3 ton D-300s were often worked from day one to that last trip to working-truck heaven.

Otherwise known as a car crusher-there was no happy ending for these laborers.

Jeff Roberts owns a Wrench Masters repair shop and fortunately this 42 year old Fargo isn’t a patient in his garage. In fact, this big working truck is a hard working part time employee. This truck was most likely a farm truck in its first job but then took on seriously hard full time work with a concrete finishing company before joining the Wrench Master team.

Jeff bought the truck about five years ago and took no mercy on the aging brute. His shop accumulates large quantities of scrap metal so every 4-6 weeks they wake up the 318 in the Fargo and haul away massive loads of iron. So far the middle aged truck hasn’t missed a beat consequently Jeff has no qualms about its reliability-and he’s a Chevy guy.

You might think that banishing an old truck to hard labor isn’t a happy ending, but in reality, that’s a best case scenario for the old Fargo.

The alternate ending was a future as a Maytag washing machine.
