FEBRUARY 2010-1971 FORD SHORT BOX-THE TRUCK THAT INSPIRED MARRIAGE SEMINARS

feb 10 rammer 1Roger Will is one of those unique guys who managed to keep something frivolous like a very fast, but impractical, 71 Ford during a voyage through the standard marriage, kids and mortgage scenario.

And he did it without lying to his wife.

Many years ago, in Roger’s tumultuous youth, he was a speed guy-a true disciple of the Tim “the tool man” more power philosophy so he put this sleeper 71 Ford truck together.

Plus, Roger’s a blue oval Ford guy all the way so he had two non-negotiable items-Ford motor and insane power.

JANUARY 2010-1947 GMC TRUCK-NEITHER HAIL NOR SLEET NOR RUNNING OUT OF GAS SHALL STOP THIS TRUCK

jan gm imgp7480George has always had a weakness for late 40s Chevy and GMC trucks.

That’s why this 1947 GMC was so appealing.

This truck was a former trailer queen –arriving at shows like royalty in a carriage. George changed that.

George and his wife put the old Jimmy back to work as a passenger vehicle no more rides on a trailer.

Trucks are practical vehicles so the idea of a pampered ride to a show made no sense to the new owners.

JANUARY 2010-SID AND HIS 53 FORD F-100: LONG JOURNEY TO COMPLETION WAS WORTH THE TRIP

jan ford imgp6544Sid Krawczyk owned a Ford way back in his younger teenage days and, like so many other car guys, the memory stuck in his “fondly remembered and never forgotten” file. So he decided to revisit that footloose and fancy-free era of his life and get another one.

He found a 1953 Ford that needed a lot of work in 1986. The project encountered its first setback when Sid discovered that the truck had a cracked frame. The upside was that the body was in reasonably good rust-free shape and only wore the battle scars of daily real world use up to its retirement. It had also been stored under cover so the real issue was not a fatal amount of rust.

It just needed to be massaged back into its pre-work use dent-free glory.

JANUARY 2010-A FATHER AND SON FIND FUN ON THE ROAD IN A 1952 CHEVY HALF TON

jan chev imgp6546The first thing to notice about Richard’s 1952 Chevrolet truck is that it’s not the prettiest 1952 Chevy ½ ton left on the planet.

But this Chevy has one of the best stories behind it at any show. Richard and his son spend plenty of weekends on the road during the summer car show season and they are all about the journey to get there in their truck done on a budget. Sure Richard could have devoted his weekends to a massive restoration of his beloved Chevy, but he had a better idea:

Get it on the road and spend the summer on the road with his son.

Richard’s son was in remission from a serious illness and he wanted to hit the circuit with his dad. It was a great plan and the two road warriors had already put over 6000 miles on the truck by mid-summer of 2009.

It doesn’t get any better than that for the two of them.

JANUARY 2010-A MOVER'S DREAM TRUCK:A CUSTOM 1953 CHEVY SUBURBAN

jan sub imgp1438aRon is a mover in the traditional sense in that he owns a business that moves stuff. That was the reason behind his purchase of his resto-mod 1953 Chevrolet Suburban that has show winner written all over it.

A career in the moving business is no longer in the cards for Ron’s Suburban, but it does a great job moving him from show to show, and it draws a lot of attention at every one of them.

The truck is a rare model because it has a window package not typically found on these vehicles.
