Fallen Stars

NOVEMBER 2010 FALLEN STARS FROM SOUTHERN NEVADA TO NORTHERN ALASKA

Fallen Stars are found everywhere on the planet. In fact, there's probably an old abandoned truck on the Antarctic continent just waiting for a ground up restoration.

We're still waiting for the evidence of that truck in Antarctica but one thing is for sure-if it exists there's somebody down there with plans for the old relic

A little fixer-upper to offset the boredom of that long Antarctic winter.

These Fallen Stars cover a range from Nevada to Alaska- possibly that's not as exotic as Antarctica but it does encompass a lot of territory.

OCTOBER 2010 FALLEN STARS-"THERE ARE ALWAYS POSSIBLITIES"

There's a famous quote from Star Trek that Spock never actually said, but it's been widely attributed to the  world's most famous alien.

It's the quote "there are always possibilities".

When the average non-car person looks at the vehicles on this page he or she only sees junk that should be recycled-immediately but car folks always see the "possibilities" in this old iron. There is nothing here that a real car guy couldn't use, modify, part out or customize.

That's what separates us from the non-believers...

AUGUST 2010 FALLEN STARS-A SALUTE TO THE LEGENDARY VIRGIL EXNER

If you're new to the hobby you might wonder who Virgil Exner is but most car guys know that he  was a cutting edge automotive designer.

Exner was particularly well known  for his "Forward Look" designs found in the 1955-61 Chrysler lineup.

That's why we're dedicating this month's Fallen Star section to VIRGIL EXNER's cars- to salute this forgotten genius.

Many many thanks for this month's pictures go out to Dennis Germain. He's a fin guy and he's a member of the world's best fin car forum dedicated to the Exner era -The Forward Look Network.

If you want to find out more about this incredible Exner era follow this link to the the FWDLK site-you won't find a better  source of information...http://www.forwardlook.net/

JULY 2010 FALLEN STARS-WE FOUND AN OLD SCHOOL CAR GUY

One of many problems with 21st Century life is that old cars are nearly becoming illegal. Clunker laws, government subsidies to "green things up"-basically out and out state "nannyism" has spelled the end of far too many great car crops.

We see a link to the past with collections like this-they blend in well with nature and every single car or truck has a story. A story and a potential part for a dedicated car guy.

A car place like this is becoming rarer and rarer-a casualty of personal agendas that seem to revolve around elected and unelected people with a little bit of power and no soul.

These cars are owned by a buddy-we're going to keep his location anonymous but we can tell you this.

He is a True Blue 100% Old School Car Guy-one of these cars is the first car he ever owned. That's motivation.

And the world (with all due respect to misguided Greenpeacers) is a much better place because of car guys who see the merit in keeping old and unwanted  automotive warriors like this around...
