JULY 2010-"JEANNIE" THE 1949 CHEVY TRUCK THAT CAUGHT DENNIS GAGE'S EYE

Jeanette is the proud owner of this incredible 1949 Chevy pickup named Jeannie-originally this car was destined to be a pretty basic driver. But like many projects the game plan changed and the result was this outstanding example of the classic late 40s early 50s era Chevrolet truck.

These trucks are by no means a rare site at any given show but what made this vintage Chevy outstanding was the color and the details.

The attention to detail was enough to catch the attention of legendary car guy Dennis Gage at a World of Wheels show-where it had just won best of class in its first show.

JULY 2010 STARS IN TRAFFIC-DRIVE 'EM DON'T TRAILER 'EM

One of the saddest sights in the old car world is a guy putting his old classic car inside a covered trailer and towing it to a show.

What's the point?

Why not build a climate controlled museum for your car if that's the best you can do?

We salute the owners of these classics because they are putting their rides in real traffic-not driving them 10 feet to unload them from an air ride trailer.

That's not a real car guy philosophy-that's a stamp collector's attitude...

JULY 2010 FALLEN STARS-WE FOUND AN OLD SCHOOL CAR GUY

One of many problems with 21st Century life is that old cars are nearly becoming illegal. Clunker laws, government subsidies to "green things up"-basically out and out state "nannyism" has spelled the end of far too many great car crops.

We see a link to the past with collections like this-they blend in well with nature and every single car or truck has a story. A story and a potential part for a dedicated car guy.

A car place like this is becoming rarer and rarer-a casualty of personal agendas that seem to revolve around elected and unelected people with a little bit of power and no soul.

These cars are owned by a buddy-we're going to keep his location anonymous but we can tell you this.

He is a True Blue 100% Old School Car Guy-one of these cars is the first car he ever owned. That's motivation.

And the world (with all due respect to misguided Greenpeacers) is a much better place because of car guys who see the merit in keeping old and unwanted  automotive warriors like this around...
