And he did it without lying to his wife.

Many years ago, in Roger’s tumultuous youth, he was a speed guy-a true disciple of the Tim “the tool man” more power philosophy so he put this sleeper 71 Ford truck together.

Plus, Roger’s a blue oval Ford guy all the way so he had two non-negotiable items-Ford motor and insane power.

feb 10 imgp7380It's fair to say that most old cars don't end up on the show circuit.Parts of some will live on in the form of a donated fender or door, but most run of the mill cars and trucks end up in one of two scenarios.

They can be found undergoing a long. lingering decomposition process under a tree or out in a field where their last contribution to society is as a giant target for rifle practice.

Or they go fast-in the jaws of a metal shredder that reduces them to a big cube.

Either way they aren't coming back-that demand for 57 Fords ended before Elvis was drafted.

Rik has simple plans for his truck-“I will be using it as a truck, not as a show and shine, l think it's a bit pissed with me, it thought it was going to retire but l told it other wise”.

front end truck work up to date   26th jan 09 029Rik’s project got to the point in months that few do in years. The rebuilding and reassembly part. Nobody keeps Guinness records on this but Rik would have to be a contender, because after several weeks of full bore work, he was reassembling his large four-wheeled jigsaw puzzle.Even more remarkably –he knew exactly what he was doing.

Rik stuck to his meticulous, logical game plan and that powered up the productivity to unseen heights in most projects.

Most guys will take a basket case like this 52 Chevy and measure progress in decades-not months but Rik didn’t-he just had fun.
