mdl a imgp0041Scott Shaw is a guy who was born several decades too late-he’s a young guy with a growing family but his heart is clearly found decades in the past. Several decades.

Scott’s automotive nostalgia reaches back to the Glenn Miller era of swing music and he’s a guy who has definitely made a big investment in the past.

This 1931 Model A pickup is symptomatic of Scott’s commitment to a bygone era-“I think the model A  was the foundation that other cars were built around!”

Scott is definitely a big picture guy because he likes to analyze how this Depression-era workhorse fit into the 1930s automotive scene as a whole.

MAY 2010 STARS OF THE SHOW-TIME TO DUST OFF THE OLD IRON

ma 15 imgp7251Like many rites of spring, the car show returns in May-that's when all of that winter dust come off and proud old car owners start gathering at shows.

And they say that robins are a welcome sight in the spring...car shows are the real sign of a new season.

MAY 2010 STARS IN TRAFFIC-THE CLASSICS ARE BACK IN SEASON

ma 10 imgp5579May is when the streets get a lot more interesting because that's when most car guys put their old iron back on the streets.

The change from roads filled with bland and boring plastic cars to classics that really stand out is a welcome sight...like green leaves and sunny warm days.

Suddenly the streets of the world are a lot better place.

APRIL 2010-1982 VOLKSWAGEN DIESEL RABBIT TRUCK-THE LITTLE TONKA THAT COULD

apr 10 vwimgp9509This is a remarkable story about a vehicle that isn’t typical in old car world -not many car shows showcase 1982 VW Rabbit trucks. That’s the beauty of MSCC-we live for these stories.

Dennis Zimmer was a young guy working for a telephone company in the early 80s when he decided to buy a dependable, affordable vehicle for his job-he needed something that would start and go every day.

Another huge factor was buying a vehicle that wouldn’t beat him up on fuel because Dennis was paid by the mile.

The “Tonka”as he called it from Day 1, was the answer for many reasons…

APRIL 2010-AS SEEN ON MY CLASSIC CAR:1949 CHEVY CANOPY EXPRESS ENJOYS A GREAT RETIREMENT

april 10 c1We first saw this beautiful 1949 Chevrolet Canopy Express on TV. It was featured on ‘My Classic Car’ after it drew the interest of Dennis Gage at a summer car show. We can understand why Dennis was so taken with this rare southern classic. We were lucky enough to attend a show where the personable owners were answering any and all questions about their eye-catching ride.

Patsy Kachamoski was the friendly and informative spokesperson for her Chevrolet Canopy Express Vegetable Wagon. These trucks were special-built for a southern market where produce can be grown year round or thereabouts.

This one was built in 1949 during a short production run of only 570 built by Chevrolet.
