Stan The Answer Man - 1961 LINCOLN
Hi Stan -
I bought a 1961 Lincoln which hadn’t been run for a few years. I fired it up with a little gas down the carb and it ran fine until I tried to start it a few days later.
Then I ran into the same problem of fuel starvation until I dumped fuel down the carb and it fired up again. What's the story?

Hi D.T.: -
Congratulations for your ability to start an old classic without a major fire to heat up you and your car. Your Lincoln needs a carb rebuild because all of the gaskets have dried out and deteriorated from lack of use. I would strongly recommend the rebuild because gas down a carburetor is a good way to meet your local fire department and burn ward staff when things inevitably go wrong.
