TECH TIPS: INSURING YOUR OLD RIDE-YOU DO HAVE OPTIONS
One of the biggest decisions you have to make in the old car hobby is solid, reliable insurance on your vehicle. This is specialty insurance to the 10th power so how you insure your beloved ride is critical to the whole concept of ownership.
You don't need any nasty surprises in the event of a problem-that's why insuring your 48 Ford is much different than insuring your 2011 Ford truck.
We asked Stacy van Cingel at Competition Insurance Incorporated to outline the insurance options available to old car hobbyists.
Specialty Vehicle Insurance Solutions
The snow has melted and the sun is shining! It's time to hit the open road and enjoy your ride.
Competition Insurance Incorporated and the Silver Wheel Plan want you to be Insurance smart, and feel confident that you have the right coverage for your classic vehicle.
The 19A Endorsement will cover you for the full-appraised amount in the event of a total loss.
Be aware that some insurance programs will cover you on a 19 Endorsement (when no appraisal is supplied) leaves room for the Insurance Company to apply depreciation.
Is your Insurance Company limiting the fun miles you can put on your vehicle? The Silver Wheel Plan has no mileage limitation.
We want you to cruise in your car when the opportunity presents itself, without that worry. Our guideline is "pleasure use", but does not allow for daily driving "needs" such as commuting to and from work, or business use.
What about the spare parts you store "just in case"? Our policy includes an additional $7500 in spare parts coverage. If you believe that your house insurance policy will cover them, we encourage you to check with your broker. Often this is not the case.
Is a tow "hook" good enough for your vehicle? We don't think so. That's why we include "flat bed towing" up to $1500 in the event of a loss. We only want what's best for your investment.
Our program has been in place for 33 years, so we know what we're doing. Call our office and talk to one of our specialists, or visit our website at http://www.competition.ca/
We look forward to hearing from you. Wishing you all the best the season has to offer.
Happy Cruising!
