Most car guys are well aware of the Ford retractable hardtop option in the 1957-59 lineup.

These cars were a miracle of modern 1950s technology because they transformed a hardtop into a convertible in less than minute.

These hardtop convertibles were the stuff of legends given the limitations of electronics back in the day so it was a natural fit for a '65 Mustang.

At least in theory.

MARCH 2013:A VERY LOW MILEAGE 1951 FORD WITH AN UNUSUAL REASON FOR LOW MILES

A pristine and very original 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe sedan has great back story written all over it and that was definitely the case with this beauty.

It looked fresh out of the dealership despite the fact that it is now 62 years old when we discovered it at a car show.

MARCH 2013:THIS 1980 MERCURY ZEPHYR GHIA IS A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING

Mercury Zephyrs were a pretty forgettable car from the Blue Oval boys.

They were an attempt by Ford to tie practicality and performance into one product line and they ended up with a Zephyr.

These cars were not exactly the stuff of dreams for car guys and that is why this Zephyr stands out in a crowd of blandness.
