THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS CAR TUNES:JINGLE BELLS-PERRY COMO

One horse open sleighs are hot in December. They connect people with a festive season that makes winter in December borderline on the tolerable scale.

Christmas has a traditional arsenal of popular tunes that suit the mood and set the table for a positive Yuletide vibe.

“Jingle Bells” is high on the list of Christmas favorites because it has an easy to remember chorus that can be easily recited by four year olds and forty year old drunks.

You pick the person with a better command of the English language in these two worlds.

Anyhow, “Jingle Bells” is an open domain song that has been recorded by almost every person on the planet. It was originally written as an homage to winter as a season, but it now has an unbreakable link to Christmas, probably because Christmas is the only good reason for winter in the opinion of many earthlings that live too close to the North Pole.

The song has been modified into a catchier version since the earliest version from the mid-1800s when it had a stiffer sound that would not have seemed out of place in a Beethoven greatest hits collection.

These days Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without “Jingle Bells” and we are happy to include this 1950's Perry Como version of it in our Christmas list.
