STAR CAR TUNES:""RIDERS ON THE STORM" THE DOORS JUNE 1971 #14 BILLBOARD HOT 100

my star larger new radio-all the hits 2The last song Jimmy Morrison and The Doors recorded was “Riders on the Storm”. Jimmy subscribed to the “live fast-die young” book of life – he was on self destruct autopilot mode but he ended the trip by performing one of the finest rock songs ever recorded.

This song begins with falling rain and the sound of thunder-it’s not going to be a nice sunny day at the beach. That’s good because Riders on the Storm is about a hitchhiking mass murderer-“If ya give this man a ride, Sweet family will die, Killer on the road”-yeah,  it’s not supposed to be fun.

Jimmy was the master of the deep and dark thought process so picking up the twisted hitchhiker in “Riders on the Storm” is a huge mistake “ There's a killer on the road, His brain is squirmin' like a toad”.

Probably your last.

Morrison was a moody guy, so whether or not something like the dark, foreboding “Riders on the Storm” was supposed to be his last song, it worked out that way . Jimmy Morrison wasn't from Vaudeville but he sure knew how to "leave 'em wanting more". It was a great career move-“Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Into this house we're born Into this world we're thrown”.

Classic rock at its finest.
