MY STAR CAR TUNES:'MR. BRIGHTSIDE' THE KILLERS RELEASED SEPT 29 2004
The Killers are a relative newcomer in pop music but they have learned the fine art of the pop tune.
In ‘Mr. Brightside’, they seem to have forced punk music into a new punk-lite formula that has a dance floor beat where paranoia and jealousy get wrapped up into a bubbly beat that can be easily translated into seizure-like movements by uncoordinated white kids on a dance floor.
"It started out with a kiss, How did it end up like this? ” Personally I have no idea how the guy in the song got so incredibly f****d up, but the possibility of insecurity mixed with too much booze comes to mind.
If a listener has little interest in the song’s bleak message of despair and mistrust in a relationship, it really doesn’t matter. Because you can dance to this baby- even if you can’t dance well.
And, sometimes when a relationship starts out, they start out on a dance floor before they get to kisses, paranoia and probable end of the relationship- Killers style.
