STAR CAR TUNES LINK WRAY “RUMBLE” #16 1958 BILLBOARD CHARTS

Rumble is one of those cutting edge songs from the history of rock that nobody puts in the classic file-that’s wrong.

This song from 1958 introduced the power chord to rock-the same one that inspired everybody from Jimi Hendrix to ACDC to any punk act you can name from the 70s until now. ‘Punk’ was the key word because this instrumental inspired every punk with grease in his hair,a switchblade in his pocket and a lowered 51 Mercury.

This wasn’t a Pat Boone bubblegum “holding hands on the beach” song-this one was for dangerous guys who got their hands dirty working on dangerous cars. It's ominous, threatening and encouraged bad behavior. If it scared the liver out of parents then it did its job because this was the first power rock song ever recorded .

The first.

That’s the world of rock. Thank you Link Wray.
