DEC 25 STAR OF THE WEEK:SANTA'S NEW SLED-59 CADILLAC A VINTAGE RIDE FOR A JOLLY FAT GUY
DECEMBER 25 STAR OF THE WEEK:SANTA'S NEW SLED-1959 CADILLAC A VINTAGE RIDE FOR A JOLLY FAT GUY
Rumor has it that St. Nick is tired of following reindeer and driving a convertible in December so today's Star of the Week is the perfect fit.
It's got a roof, a heater, roll up windows and lots of room for the world's fattest elf.
Best of all you get rid of that herd of smart-mouthed reindeer.
This picture was taken on Christmas Eve just before takeoff...there was no doubt who would be the Star of the Week...

DECEMBER 24 STAR OF THE DAY: THE FIRST GEN DODGE CLUB CAB...HARDEST WORKING TRUCK IN SHOW BIZ
The Dodge Club Cab signalled a new era in pickup trucks in 1973 when the extended cab added a little more comfort to the experience.
Eventually trucks evolved to the point where new ones have more creature comfort options and a better ride than a new Caddy did in 1985.
It began in the 70s when they grafted more cab room in Dodges but that's not why this one is Star of the Day.
This truck is still working hard in 2011-that's what makes Stars at mscc.
DECEMBER 23 STAR OF THE DAY: 1960 PONTIAC...WIDE TRACKING WAS NEVER MORE FUN
By 1960 Pontiac was a year into the 'Widetracking' slogan. The Chief would ride this advantage well into the 60s because it was one of the most on the nose pieces of copy ever written about a car.
These Ponchos pushed the wider stance as a huge advantage in handling. That kind of performance image was music to the ears of younger buyers...the GTO was a natural byproduct of the road handling mystique.
This 1960 Pontiac was a star at a show in 2010 but it's an mscc Star in 2011.
DECEMBER 22 STAR OF THE DAY: 30S STYLE BLENDED WITH 21ST CENTURY FUNCTION
This truck probably never began life as a truck.
Thanks to the magic of imagination and a tremendous amount of talent and work the streets were graced with this classic ride back in summer 2009.
Anything is possible with time, incredible skill and boatloads of patience-this 1930s era Star of the Day demonstrates the highest level of this concept.
STAR OF THE DAY:1973 BOAT TAIL BUICK RIVIERA-A BOLD LOOK IN A CONSERVATIVE ERA
By 1973, cars had become relatively conservative in appearance thanks to impending state issued "bumper laws" designed to crash-proof vehicles.
In addition to that they were strangled by more state intervention in pollution controls.
Buick blew up the styling impasse in 1971 when they built the boat tail-a fastback based on the early 50s look at GM. These big Buicks had an instant presence and fought the idea that car makers were being strangled out of creative styling.
This example was at a show last summer, but it was featured in an mscc story a few years ago-a Star is reborn...
DECEMBER 20 STAR OF THE DAY:1957 PLYMOUTH FURY-THE FORGOTTEN MUSCLE CAR

The 1957 automotive year is often reduced to 3 cars-the Thunderbird, the Chevy Bel Air and the fuelie Vette.
Nobody talks about the 57 Fury.
But they did back in 1957 when this brute reduced every street fight to a one punch TKO.

DECEMBER 19 STAR OF THE DAY: WILLYS-THE ICONIC PLATFORM FOR HOT RODDERS
Many car guys remember the Willys as a Gasser on the drag strip. They were born to race with the perfect wheelbase and stance for launching.
Later on, somebody decided that the Willys would make a great street machine and the legend grew. Legendary status for this icon arrived when they started to make fiberglass Willys bodies...nothing conveys more respect than a plastic copy of a car.
This one was seen at a 2009 show-surrounded by fans.
That's fitting for an mscc Star of the Day.
DECEMBER 18 STAR OF THE DAY:50S PACKARD CLASS AND STYLE IN DECLINE
Packard built cars that were designed for people who wanted to arrive in style because they'd already arrived in life.
Packard made it through the 1930s but by the time this car was built the company was on life support. A car like this is like the company that built it-it deserved a second chance.
Maybe this mscc Star of the Day status will help.
