NOVEMBER 6 STAR OF THE WEEK: A CAR GUY IN FRONT OF HIS FAVORITE RIDE-THE SCREAMING EAGLE

NOVEMBER 6 STAR OF THE WEEK: A CAR GUY IN FRONT OF HIS FAVORITE RIDE-THE SCREAMING EAGLE

Normally the Star of the Week is a vintage car or truck or, in this case, a wild machine known as the Screaming Eagle.

The Screaming Eagle is an insane ride and easily a Star of the Week but this week's Star is the guy beside it.

Aidan Fitzgerald loved this incredible machine becuase it was large, noisy, had a giant engine and most of all-it was just plain weird-looking.

He got to see it on September 9 2010 and that was a huge event for the world's biggest car guy.

Most MSCC readers know that Aidan passed away this week but this picture summed up a car guy in his glory beside a giant engine...an MSCC Star of the Week.

NOVEMBER 5 2011 STAR OF THE DAY:1940 WILLYS AMERICAR-AN ALL STEEL ICON

The 39-40 Willys was an icon on the drag strip-these old warriors were classic Gassers in the 1960s and mre than one guy put a 392 Hemi in one and dominated on the street.

This one was at the 2009 Hot August Nights in Reno and it really captured why the Willys was so desirable in the world of hot rods.

This is truly an iconic car and easily a Star of the Day.

NOVEMBER 4 STAR OF THE DAY: A TRIUMPH TR6 AND A SUNNY DAY MARK THE LAST DAY OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME

nov11-04imgp5077-2The switch back to Standard time from Daylight Saving Time is fairly routine but one fact remains-this is the retreat into winter weekend.

Those sunsets are going to happen earlier every day for nearly 2 months and this change in time zones speeds up the process.

Here's a little reminder of what we're leaving behind-sunny skies, fluffy clouds and a classic British sports car...a Triumph TR6.

This Star of the Day is here to remind us of what we're leaving behind...

NOVEMBER 3 STAR OF THE DAY:A LEFTOVER FROM THE 70S-A FORD PINTO BOOGIE VAN

The 1970s were known for many things-the "Me Generation", the last good years for the Rolling Stones, the first and last decade where jogging wasn't done by a sliver of the population, the dark days of disco and the boogie van.

Ford cashed in on the boogie van concept in a big way with factory "boogey-ized" full sized vans and these little Pinto panel vans.

This one isn't a factory correct Pinto boogey van but it's still a rare sight at any car show.

That makes it an MSCC Star of the Day.

NOVEMBER 2 STAR OF THE DAY-THE CLASSIC 2ND GEN PONTIAC T/A

The Pontiac Firebird was a likeable pony car but it didn't get the massive press that its cousin, the Camaro received in the late 60s.

Pontiac countered with the 69 Trans Am and suddenly Firebird was on the radar. In 1970 Pontiac sent the Gen 2 Firebird off to war.

This early 70s TA is a great example of just how successful this warrior was...

Star of the Day-this Gen Firebird Trans Am.

NOVEMBER 1 STAR OF THE DAY:68 CHARGER-LIKE SHOOTING FISH IN A BARREL

The Star of the Day concept is steeped in spontaneity-old iron picked at random from files containing 35,000 pictures.

This is the start of a new month at MSCC so behind the scenes there's more activity than a beehive on crystal meth but today the choice was really easy.

Pick a 68 Charger...it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

This picture was from last summer at a show just before Mother Nature brought its best game in the form of a nasty storm.

The guys around the car didn't care-they were leaning on a 68 Charger.Nothing else mattered.

OCTOBER 31 STAR OF THE DAY:IT'S OCTOBER 31...IT HAS TO BE HEARSE-HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM MSCC

This is the day that kids look forward to for 364 days-a chance to wear a disguise,  go door to door and strong arm your neighbors into handing out candy.

It's the perfect day but it needs a hearse (the Star of the Day) in the middle of a graveyard to really set the scene.

Happy Halloween from MSCC.

OCTOBER 30 STAR OF THE DAY:1962 IMPALA-THE CONVERTIBLE THAT'S SO PERFECT IT'S ALMOST A CLICHE

oct11-30bimgp4545-2The Impala brand name is iconic in automotive circles but add white 1962 Impala convertible to the formula and you have a car so perfect it's almost a cliche.

In 1962 if you wanted to symbolize everything that was right about America it was found in this car.

It was freedom, class and style on four wheels.

This car could take you on sunny drives along the coast, to baseball games or 4th of July fireworks celebrations.

Vacations were a dream in this full-sized Impala-especially if the destination was Disneyland.

If it's true that old cars represent a time and a place then this Chevy represents a time and place that is truly missed.
