OCTOBER 23 STAR OF THE WEEK-THE LEGENDARY IHC LIGHT TRUCK TAKES THE TOP SPOT FOR THE WEEK

This truck was spotted at a major IHC show back in 2007 and it stood out even in the midst of a big herd of classic "cornbinders".

The past week was yet another tough one to judge because there were so many good candidates.

Unlike most political campaigns...

In the end the choice came down to the underdog-a tough little truck made by a tough big truck manufacturer.

A vintage cornbinder-the MSCC Star of the Week...

OCTOBER 22 STAR OF THE DAY: CHEVY PICKUP-LIKE A ROCK...NEARLY 50 YEARS LATER

This old Chevy truck was in traffic a few days ago and it really lived up to the old TV ad "Like a Rock".

50 years later this old workhorse is still hauling a load and that makes it an easy Star of the Day.

OCTOBER 21 STAR OF THE DAY:1967 SUNBEAM ALPINE-CUTE AND MILD MANNERED UNTIL THE HEART TRANSPLANT

The little Sunbeam Alpine was considered a cute car in 1967-especially when you stacked it up against a 427 Vette or 426 Hemi GTX .

It really came to life when they transplanted a Ford small block into it and called it a Tiger. In fact, it was lethally fast when it was in the wrong hands and it was far from cute.

This 67 Sunbeam was at a 2010 show and it clearly began life as an Alpine but somebody added more heart under the hood and this little car wasn't so cute anymore.

An MSCC Star of the Day with the transplanted heart of a tiger.

OCTOBER 20 STAR OF THE DAY:1961 IMPERIAL-WHEN YOU REALLY NEED TO MAKE A STATEMENT

This giant finned monster is the ultimate identity car. You might be a 135 pound nerd but if you drive this car instead of a new Lexus you are going to make a big impression.

Car guys are going to love this car. You will instantly become a highly ranked member of the fraternity.

No tough entry exams, no hazing the new guy-just instant respect.

Not every female is going to love this ride but the ones that do...you'll want to mark them on your social calendar because they sure won't be boring.

A 61 Imperial-the blueprint for pulling a nerd out of obscurity and an MSCC Star of the Day

OCTOBER 19 STAR OF THE DAY: IHC PICKUP...THE 4TH CHOICE FOR LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS

International Harvester is well known for big rigs but they built light duty pickups from 1902 to 1975.

A "Cornbinder" was an extremely unlikely 1st choice, it was rarely the 2nd choice, it was occasionally the 3rd choice but most often it was the 4th choice for pickup buyers.

That's a bit of a mystery because any company that could build heavy duty commercial rigs could easily build a tough pickup truck.

No problem there...these were tough trucks but they lagged behind the Big 3 in sales, year after after year.

MSCC loves the underdog so here's a vintage IHC pickup that was a very easy choice for Star of the Day

OCTOBER 18 STAR OF THE DAY-FULL SIZED 1969 C BODY DODGE...RODNEY DANGERFIELD'S CAR

oct11-18imgp6513-3The big C Body Dodges never gained any traction with the collector car crowd but this classic example was surrounded by people at a show back in 2009.

There's no question that far more 1970 Dodge Challengers  survived the "Me" Decade than Polaras but occasionally you see an example like this and you wonder why they were treated like "I get no respect" Rodney Dangerfield.

At least this one made Star of the Day.

OCTOBER 17 STAR OF THE DAY-A FOR SALE SIGN AND RANDOM THOUGHTS AT 75 MILES PER HOUR

oct11-17imgp0978-2This early 50s Chevy panel was parked next to a major highway and it held that magnetic draw for car guys-it had a "For Sale" sign.

That kicks the brain into overdrive so random thoughts are processed in milliseconds...thoughts like.

"It looked pretty good rust-wise" (at 75 mph and 200 feet away)

"Big block would be nice but a small block would be more civilized for the wife and kids" (kids will be 30 years old by the time this project is done)

"Speaking of wife, I wonder what she'll think" (divorce car)

At MyStar we're not afraid of brides so your Star of the Day is a project car with a For Sale sign.
