OCTOBER 1 2011 STAR OF THE WEEK-THE BUBBA ARMY VEHICLE

This was a week of commitment-commitment to a 500,000 mile Volvo, a beloved Model T, 50s styling and driving a classic in the real world.

The strongest commitment came from this guy-a member in good standing of the Bubba Army. These guys are an easy punch line for late TV hosts but the Lenos and Lettermans are the weaklings because Bubbas are being all they can be in this man's Bubba Army.

This guy has his Sergeant stripes-that easily makes him Star of the Week.

This is a brand new month at MSCC-we're really proud of this edition so please follow this link..http://www.mystarcollectorcar.com/

SEPTEMBER 2011 STAR OF THE DAY-AN AUTUMN NIGHT AND A GUY IN A MODEL T

The cats at MSCC are unabashed fans of the Model T so it's no surprise that every time a stock Model T is seen in traffic it is an automatic Star of the Day.

There is something so life affirming about these cars-they're basic, bulletproof and they'd probably be the only thing left after a massive asteroid strike.

Most of all-they're just plain cool. They're like Tony Bennett-well over 80 and still the hippest cat in the room.

Your Star of the Day-a Model T in 2011 traffic.

SEPTEMBER 29 STAR OF THE DAY-1955 CHEVY AT DUSK IN THE REAL WORLD

MyStarCollectorCar is a celebration of the average car guy in the real world and this 55 Chevy is a classic example.

55 Chevys aren't that uncommon at most car shows but this one was on the street at dusk just before a storm hit.

That's when the old iron really stands out and you have to respect a guy who exposes his ride to odd peril in the real world.

This was an easy Star of the Day...

SEPTEMBER 28 STAR OF THE DAY-THE EVOLUTION OF THE AUTOMOBILEsept11-28imgp0180-1

Here's a very visual display of the evolution in automotive design. The 1920s...an iconic decade.

It wasn't called the "Roaring 20s" because of tornado season.

The cars were functional, affordable, practical and built for families as evidenced by the vehicle behind the Viper.

The Viper is nothing like that but it is an example of incredible change in car world.

The Star of the Day is the evolution of our 4 wheeled friends.

SEPTEMBER 27 STAR OF THE DAY: A CLASSIC BUBBA-MOBILE TRUCK

Bubbas have been on the receiving end of a punchline for well over two decades and in many ways that's unfair.

Bubbas are men of conviction-you may not agree with direction they take in life but you won't find men more committed to the road trip.

That's why this truck was such an easy pick for MSCC Star of the Day.

SEPTEMBER 26 STAR OF THE DAY: 1957 METEOR- A CHECKLIST FOR FIFTIES CUSTOM CAR OPTIONS

This 1957 Meteor is rare enough to be a Star of the Day on its own merit as a unique 50s ride. It's actually more than that because it embodies every custom option a high school kid would add to his beloved ride.

There's the whip antenna, lakeside pipes, Continental kit and straight pipes-that covers a big part of what rocked a 1950s kid's world.

The MSCC Star of the Day-a rolling tribute to all that was cool in the Chuck Berry era.

SEPTEMBER 25 STAR OF THE DAY: A 1978 VOLVO 242 GT-THE ENERGIZER BUNNY OF CAR WORLD

The MSCC Star of the Day isn't about the flashiest or the most desirable old ride... or even the most picturesque setting.

If it was, you'd have a never-ending series of well restored Vettes, Hemicudas or Shelby Mustangs parked beside a white sand tropical beach near a beautiful ocean under a clear blue sky. That's the easy way out.

In fact, just about any ride or season qualifies so this well-used 1978 Volvo was picked from an MSCC article a few years ago. The shot was taken during a particularly ugly winter day just before dusk.

That defines why this Volvo is a Star. It never misses a beat-winter, spring or summer as a daily driver. Those are the days that old daily driver cars face. They have to perform or face a quick one-way trip to a shredder.

This Volvo has avoided a grim destiny like that simply by performing day in-day out on ugly days like this with a minimum of maintenance...for 500,000 miles and counting.

This car is a 4 wheeled Energizer Bunny. Easily a Star of the Day.
