AUGUST 6 STAR OF THE WEEK...A 1946 CHEVROLET HOLLYWOOD EXTRA

AUGUST 6 STAR OF THE WEEK...A 1946 CHEVROLET HOLLYWOOD EXTRA

It's permanently parked at Alcatraz, it was an extra in a Hollywood movie but this 1946 Chevy truck's  biggest claim to fame is that it's simply a cool truck.

That's the real reason this old workhorse is a MyStarCollectorCar.com Star of the Week.

AUGUST 5 STAR OF THE DAY-1946 ALCATRAZ CHEVROLET STAKE TRUCK

This truck is parked at Alcatraz Penitentiary and like every prisoner who lived there-it ain't leaving. It wasn't actually used at the Rock but it was left behind in the 1990s by the guys who made the movie "Murder in the First Degree".

They thought it would make a great prop for the famous tourist attraction.

They were right.

Ladies and Gentlemen...your Star of the Day.

AUGUST 4 STAR OF THE DAY:1957 BUICK CABELLERO WAGON-THE ULTIMATE VACATION-MOBILE

Chevy Chase would have loved this Family Truckster from 1957-a Buick Cabellero 4 door hardtop station wagon.

There's arriving and arriving in style. This wagon is the latter, so to celebrate the peak of the summer vacation season here's a 54 year old car that hauled a holiday trailer across Canada last year.

That's a Star of the Day feat...

AUGUST 3 STAR IF THE DAY-A 71 VALIANT DEFINES THE CAR CULTURE

The most appealing facet of the car hobby is the open nature of the participants. In other words, this 1971 Valiant was at a major show and the owner was so proud of his ride that he put it in the parade of cars.

That's what it's all about.

Jim blew an assignment on this one because he was supposed to interview the owner. Typically, cars with this kind of history have an incredible story behind them...maybe this Valiant was the one in the Steven Spielberg TV movie Duel.

We'll never know because Jim was stuck at the hot dog stand but that doesn't stop this well used Valiant from being Star of the Day.

AUGUST 2 STAR OF THE DAY-BETSY THE 49 STATE 1957 THUNDEBIRD

This car was featured in an MSCC story 2 years ago. This is a true partnership between car and owner because Lucy and Betsy have been to 49 states in the last 3 years.

57 T-Birds are an iconic car but a 57 T-Bird named Betsy that covered that many safe and reliable miles in the 21st  Century is truly a Star of the Day.

AUGUST 1 STAR OF THE DAY-AN EARLY 70S CUDA ON STEROIDS

This truly felt like a Mopar Monday so here's a classic example. In 1970 Chrysler reinvented the Barracuda.

By then it had been nicknamed the 'Cuda and it simply looked fast. Add engine options up to the mighty 426 Hemi and this car was fast.

This particular 'Cuda was found at a track-a natural fit for a mean and nasty, yet great looking car.

Hollywood looks with a real, non-Hollywood punch made this car the Star of the Day.
