JULY 10 STAR OF THE WEEK-1968 AMX...SOMETIMES THE CHOICE IS JUST GUT REACTION
JULY 10 STAR OF THE WEEK-1968 AMX...SOMETIMES THE CHOICE IS JUST GUT REACTION
There is no formula for Star of the Day or Star of the Week. It's simply a gut reaction to a picture of a classic ride. This was a tough week-they were all close for different reasons, but the final 2 came down to the 1960 Pontiac and the 68 AMX.
The AMX won because it still looks fast in 2011. The Pontiac looks cool but the AMX is the little muscle car from AMC left a big impression on a junior high kid like me when it hit the streets back in 68.You want to take an AMX to any pavement street fight...
That's gut reaction to your Star of the Week.

JULY 9 STAR OF THE DAY-A 70 YEAR OLD EXTENDED CAB DUALLY
What if Ford had decided to build an extended cab dually pickup over 70 years ago? To most people this is a hypothetical mental exercise, but to car guys it becomes a very basic question.
Why not?
This "hypothetical" Ford truck is a great example of how car guys think. Custom vehicles exist solely through hard work, a vision for a project and the unwavering belief that anything you can imagine-you can build.
This Star of the Day is dedicated to that philosophy...

JULY 8 STAR OF THE DAY-1976 IHC SCOUT...A CORNBINDER SUV
The IHC Scout was one of the earliest entries into the SUV field after Jeep started the market. They were tough little workhorses but they didn't get the notoriety of the Jeeps, Broncos and Land Rovers.
All they did was go out and do a great job, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.
That's what makes this bulletproof little warrior the Star of Day...

JULY 7 STAR OF THE DAY-A 1952 CHEVY RESCUED FROM A RIVER TURNED INTO A CLASSIC ROD
This 52 Chevy was featured a few years ago in MSCC but it deserved a return to stardom. It was fished out of a river and literally handbuilt over several years by an extremely hands-on car guy.
He did this car the old fashioned way-using whatever he could find from salvage cars-parts that looked good and functioned well.
Cars like this deserve another day in the spotlight because they embody what the hobby is all about...
An average guy turning a big project into a Star of the Day.

JULY 6 STAR OF THE DAY:68 AMX-THE OTHER NORTH AMERICAN 2-SEATER SPORTS CAR
American Motors has always evoked admiration from every brand of car guy. They were the little guys who always gave their best effort despite very limited budgets.
This 1968 AMX is a great example. The only 2 seater sports car made in North America was the Corvette. AMC cut the back end off the Javelin and suddenly there were two..
History demonstrates that this was a great effort-this AMX stands the test of time.
Your Star of the Day-the other 2 seater sports car.

JULY 5 STAR OF THE DAY-A 1960 PONTIAC MAKES A RARE APPEARANCE AT A CAR SHOW
1960 Pontiacs were relatively common-in 1960. Over the years they tended to disappear even though they had a really nice styling package that straddled the late 1950s and early 60s.
That's why this green 1960 Pontiac was such a welcome sight at a show last year.
The Star of the Day.

JULY 4 - INDEPENDENCE DAY SUMMED UP IN A RED, WHITE AND BLUE GROUND POUNDING FUNNY CAR
July 4th is one of the biggest celebrations of nationhood on the planet-you don't mark that occasion with a chess competition or a quiet day at the library.
Not even close...
You celebrate July 4th with a giant party that culminates in a giant fireworks display. That's Independence Day.
Automotively speaking, you don't celebrate with a bland vanilla white Subaru-you celebrate with the loudest, nastiest, red and white and blue Funny Car you can find.
This car definitely fit the bill.
Ladies and gentlemen...your July 4th Star of the Day

JULY 3 STAR OF THE DAY-A NON-CLASSIC MUSTANG IN A CLASSIC PICTURES
tars of the Day come in many incarnations and this Mustang is yet another example-not because it's a particularly unique or classic piece of iron.
This 'stang is a Star because of it's presentation. It's from part 2 of a Stars of the Show featuring a Salmon Arm B.C. show as photographed by Darren Sutherland.
He could turn brand new Hyundais into Stars.

JULY 2 STAR OF THE DAY-1966 DODGE POLARA...CELEBRATING THE 4 DOOR SEDAN
MyStarCollectorCar.com is on record-we are a strong advocate of the vintage 4 door sedan. That's why this plain Jane Dodge "more-door" is the Star of the Day.
There's another reason why this car is a Star.
The story behind the car. There's a great family history built into this unassuming vehicle-one that will be in an upcoming car story.MyStarCollectorCar is all about that too...
