STAR CAR SUMMER TUNES: 'THE RAIN THE PARK AND OTHER THINGS '

What were you listening to on your AM radio back in 1967 when cars named GTO or GTX ruled the street? Simple answer-'The Rain, The Park and Other Things' ...a Hall of Fame feel-good summer song.

The fact that it charted in the late fall of 1967 does not diminish its impact as a summer song.

AM radio was all over this song in '67 as the family band The Cowsills hit number 2 on the Billboard charts with this summer anthem.

It was a staple on every car radio in North America during its original chart run and it has stayed in my personal Top 10 summer tunes ever since its debut.

'The Rain, The Park and Other Things' could easily be described as a bubble gum song; a label that was perfect for me at the time because I was a pre-adolescent kid that fit the bubble gum label to a tee in '67.

But even now I find that I never got tired of the song.

It has always represented summer and romance to me-even if my days as a kid trapped by my hormones are long past their shelf life.

Thank you Cowsills for a timeless summer classic.
