kin’ Down The Highway’ was a lesser known single off the ‘Toulouse Street’ album which put the Doobies on the musical map. Note the 1972 release date which indicated two important features of that time period-cheap gas and giant land dinosaurs like Eldorados and Imperials.

MY STAR CAR TUNES '100 IN A 55' POP EVIL-- NOT EXACTLY DRIVER'S ED APPROVED

The 21st century music world needed a new car song and they got one with Pop Evil’s ‘100 in a 55’. The song is either about a 55 mph speed limit or a 1955 classic car, but 100 mph showing on the speedometer works either way in a ‘disaster waiting to happen’ sense.

‘Renegade’ was one of those oddball car songs which captured that mood of uneasiness you get behind the wheel when a police car pulls in behind you. You don’t have to be a poster boy for ‘America’s Most Wanted’ in these circumstances to feel insecure.

Why would the ultimate chick song qualify as a car song? This song captured the hearts and souls of every female over the age of 8 just a few years ago, but is there any sane reason why 'You're Beautiful' has any horsepower as a car tune?

Detroit Rock City, KISS

radioDetroit Rock City (released July 28 1976) KISS

KISS was more cartoon than man when they exploded on the rock music scene in the early 70's but they had a loyal army of adolescent males who marched to the KISS beat in a huge way. "Detroit Rock City" was allegedly a tribute to a young fan who died behind the wheel on his way to a KISS concert.
