SUMMERTUNES “MOONLIGHT FEELS RIGHT” STARBUCK #3 BILLBOARD CHARTS JULY 31 1976

The mid-70s were the ultimate laid-back pop music years and this song had to be the ultimate laid-back pop music song. “Moonlight Feels Right” by Starbuck is the kind of song that can drive you to the beach in less than 3 minutes “I’ll take you on a trip beside the ocean and drop the top at Chesapeake Bay”.

 Even if it’s 4 a.m. in the middle of a January blizzard. But it works a lot better in the month of July-when this song came out.

This  summer song from 1976 is a great antidote to the current July heat-head to a large body of water like Chesapeake Bay and get 70s cool...

Summer 2010 is definitely just kicking off but any Summertunes list wouldn’t be complete without this classic single from July 1963.

This is a summer song at its hottest released in the summer’s hottest month- that's a combination you are going to miss when it’s mid winter and your car won’t star so burn this time of year into your permanent memory for surviving those brutal January nights.

STAR CAR TUNES ROGER MILLER “KANSAS CITY STAR” BILLBOARD CHART #31 1965

Roger Miller was the last of the good time guys. He was a frat party waiting to happen long before John Belushi and Animal House caused every drunken kid in a bed sheet to sing endless loop off-key versions of “Louie Louie”. Roger was the real deal, the true “King of the Road” troubadour and no Star Car Tune list would be complete without Roger ‘Dodger’ Miller.

MY STAR CARTUNES: LA WOMAN the Doors Released: April 1971

This Doors classic is arguably one of the greatest driving songs of all time. The pounding beat of the bass guitar and drum combination, along with classic Manzarek keyboard riffs set up a freeway feel to the song.

Actually a freeway at high speed feel to the song with its California roots and the legendary LA freeway where traffic is a circus act and Jimmy Morrison was the ringmaster in LA Woman.
