A LOST WEEKEND FOR A TIGER AND TWO CAMELS ON A ROAD TRIP

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be a thief. Especially a thief with a set of values. A road trip for a tiger and his camel buddies was sidetracked last weekend when somebody boosted their ride. Thing were even more complicated because the animals were still in the trailer behind the stolen truck.

So what's a thief to do under these conditions?

It turns out to be the right thing for Tony the tiger and the camels. The threesome were stolen on Friday night and found on Monday. In between they were treated to three squares a day by their hosts/thieves.

One would think that the cargo was a big surprise when the thieves did a quick inventory after the heist. A giant cat that could easily warm up on human-sized appetizers is not exactly what you want to find on a stolen cargo wish list. The camels might be a little difficult to fence (compared to stolen cigarettes) as well. The whole caper had bad situation comedy written all over it.

The misadventure took place in Quebec en-route to a zoo in Ontario and the biggest concern was the tiger (real name Jonas), because he needed a steady supply of water in the early summer heat of last weekend. That is the point where the thief (or thieves) showed some class by taking care of Jonas and the two camels (Shawn and Todd).

The abandoned trailer was discovered on a side road under the shade of a tree when it was found. It is difficult to give a thumbs-up to the people responsible for the theft, but at least they did right by the boys in the trailer. A quick check from a local vet proved that the three furry tourists were ready to head home to the Bowmanville Ontario zoo.

So, after the thieves picked up the tab for food and beverages, one would wonder whether the whole thing was worth the effort for them.

Most accountants will agree that the food bill would not be deductible from the sale of a stolen truck.
