SIX MORE THINGS THAT WAITRESSES REALLY HATE ABOUT THEIR JOBS
We put together a list a while ago that had six things that waitresses really hate about their job. For those of you that missed it, look under our editorial section for part one.
But sometimes the money can be great, and that will balance out six more things that waitress really hate about their job.
Reason number one is unwanted attention. A hot waitress is an automatic center of attention. It comes with the territory and it means good tips for a bad waitress. Guys can be very forgiving for incompetence from hot babes. It's a glandular thing.
But attention is a double-edged sword. Every waitress has a lot of fans, and some of the admirers have pretty limited social skills. But the waitress groupies know there is one place to connect with the waitress of their dreams- right where they order their drinks. That is where many of the lovesick puppies gather to seek the attention of the waitress. Waitresses have to return to order more drinks at their pour station and that is the place they really need no distractions while they order drinks.
Every waitress will find some guy leaning all over them while they try to do their job and keep a drunken admirer at bay. Helpful hint boys: Waitresses really hate this part of the job and you have no chance with them.
Reason number two is no attention for waitresses. Imagine a busy night where a table has decided to ignore the girl while she tries to take an order. They have hijacked her time so they can play with power and tie her up at the expense of other customers. Nobody wins at this game, but the poor girl will be noticed if she leaves. That is when the customers seek out the owner to complain about the waitress.
Reason number three is single orders from a big table on a busy night. A waitress who makes this journey is a very unhappy waitress at the end of the night. Time is money and multiple trips to the same table(when customers choose to order one at a time) will mean poorer service and very sober customers, because the waitress will only play this game for so long.
Reason number four is tab disputes. Picture a guy on a runaway night. He is drinking high end booze and he is buying lots of rounds. He may be buying drinks to impress his buddies or any women within his visual range. The tactic with the women is obvious: He has only one weapon in his social skills arsenal, and that is to appear generous while wearing down their better judgment with booze. It is rarely effective, but it does provide an opportunity for a drunken idiot to vent on a waitress when he is alone with a giant tab at the end of the evening. The situation usually gets resolved when the bitter drunk pays the tab-no tip included.
Reason number five is a tab left in the hands of one customer who chooses to absorb the generosity of the other customers and make a few bucks. He or she will take all of the money allocated by the other people for tips at the table and stiff the waitress. He or she will then have a free evening at the expense of the waitress and there is little or nothing the poor girl can do about it.
Reason number six is a dine and dash on a tab. This is the worst kind of tab problem for a waitress because they have to absorb the loss. Many places set up dine and dash funds, but many waitresses are on their own, so don't be unhappy if a waitress asks for a credit card to run a tab. She has been burned before and she doesn't know you. It's nothing personal.
So there you have it, six more things that waitresses hate about their jobs.

TAMMY:I wish to never be a waitress or more politically correct a server again. I wish to never "serve" anyone again. I feel some old emotions coming to the surface after reading your post..........Not wishing to serve.............."
KIMMY"Wow, you nailed that one. I have a strange feeling in the pit of my stoach after reading that, reminds me of all the reasons I hated waitressing for a living.
On a better note I am also thinking about all of the wonderful people I met over 23 years, the great frineds I have met and the amazing money I have made.... and of corse the people I have had the pleasure working for ;)
I am torn between the "great" memories of waitressing & the "Not-so great" memories..
Thanks for putting that out there though. Hopefully an individual who gets poor service on a regular basis will read this and have a better understanding as to why??? lol"
