TODAY'S QUESTION: WHY DOES BILL MAHER P***S ME OFF SO MUCH?

The funny thing about Bill Maher is that he is a pretty funny guy. It's just that his giant ego and overwhelming sense of self- importance gets in the way. Not to mention his smarmy condescension. That is the tediously unfunny side of this clown.

The guy is roughly my age so I can call his BS at will, and he shovels a fair amount of it at his gullible followers. His 'Real Time' program is his personal soap box and he uses it to educate the ignorant and unwashed, by Maher standards anyway.

Bill Maher is one of those guys who sparked up a lot of joints during his high school years and probably was not taken too seriously. Maybe that was the defining moment for a future career as a comedian.

Maybe his equally stoned friends bumped up his confidence by laughing at everything he said, regardless of the possibility that maybe Bill had the best pot. Good pot that gave them the munchies and long bouts of uncontrollable giggling.

These days Bill has a nervous laugh after every one of his punch-lines. The nervous giggle may be a by-product of decades of pot use, or it may be a lack of confidence in his material.

Bill likes to recycle his material- and not for green reasons.

The worst thing that happened to Billy was the exit of George W Bush. His favorite whipping boy was gone and Bill had to find new targets. The problem is that Bill keeps dragging George back into the game. This is the point where Billy's excessive pot use seems to have short circuited his creativity modules. In a big way.

So his default position is an attack upon Sarah Pallin.

Nice reach there Billy, in a shooting-fish-in-a-barrel-kind- of-way. Bill likes to connect the dots in a forceful manner when it comes to the great divide between liberals and conservatives. Liberals are intellectually and morally superior to the hillbilly-ish conservatives in every conceivable manner. End of story. It's the Maher way. There are no signs of intelligent life when it comes to a conservative agenda, because it begins with Bush and ends with Pallin in Billy World.

But what really irritates me about this clown is his dismissive and simplistic view about complex issues like global warming.

Anybody who questions the science behind the theory is automatically dismissed as a "denier" and subsequently a "tea-bagger"; a worn-out cliché that he has beaten to death as his description for a conservative. Check that-any form of conservatism that runs contrary to the gospel according to Billy.

And Billy has a pretty simple gospel when it comes to a superficial look at complicated issues. He distills his information down to snappy one-liners that rarely intercept with a balanced look at a big picture. He will summarize the global warming debate with a simple "I'm right and you're wrong" sound byte that always exaggerates the incredibly misguided conclusion that every weather scientist in the world believes that it is a fact. Here's a very inconvenient truth you wanker- they don't.

The problem with this arrogant wind bag is that he is not a scientist- he just plays one on TV. This is a huge problem when it comes to credibility.
So guys like me have a little trouble taking this guy seriously. It's a little difficult for me to separate this clown from any of the stoners from my high school years.

Make that impossible.

COMMENTS

DENNIS:"What Maher and the "has been" Liberal tools like him don't seem to get is that thanks to the Congressional elections and the election of Obama, they are now "The Establishment" The exact thing that the "Peace-Love" dope crowd of my generation railed against for 4 decades. The "younger generation" is and always has been anti-establishment. Today's kids have begun to turn conservative simply by the lack of another alternative to be "against".

The hypocrisy of the left has become impossible to ignore. We who grew up in the 50's and early 60's could see what was coming and now that it's here and in our face, the kids can see through it too in spite of school indoctriniations of the last 40 years. The Liberal schools are also now "The establishment". Ripe fodder for the anti-establishment philosophy inherent in the young. Case in point: Glenn Beck's ratings among the 18 to 35 crowd are seadily climbing. Why? because he's "cool". He presents an alternative to "the establishment" thinking.
I hope Bob Dylan is choking on these words, because they are as true today as they were 4 decades ago because "The times they are a changin".
