WHY 'GAMER' IS ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN

gamer imgp7247Nobody put a gun to my temple to see this movie and that is really too bad. At least I could have blamed somebody else for watching this piece of crap. As it stands now, I have to fall on the sword with this one as my own bad decision to watch it. Actually, really bad decision to watch it.

Gamer’ is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with today’s movies: The movie producers want us to watch a two hour video game and pretend that it is a movie. Worse yet, we don’t even get to participate in the annihilation of video cartoon characters in standard X-Box fashion.

We simply get to watch a screen where fictional cartoon characters get to annihilate other fictional cartoon characters.

At least we knew where we stood with Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

We were merely passive observers of their personal beef with each other. We knew that they were cartoon characters, and that Fudd was going to do his damndest to terminate Bugs Bunny with extreme prejudice.

But things never quite worked out for Elmer.

Now things never quite work out for movie-goers with horrible shows like Gamer.

We watch movies with flesh and blood actors and we get video pod people. We know that Gerard Butler is a living human being, but it is difficult to spot the real Gerry in the movie. Sadly, trying to figure out real people sequences is the highlight reel portion of ‘Gamer’.

The rest of the time we have to watch violent video game sequences being fobbed off as entertainment and subsequent justification for grabbing a generous chunk of our hard-earned cash and precious free time.

The movie attempts to slap us around with a futuristic morality tale in the grandest of the ‘Soylent Green’ tradition, but all it did was anger me up- a lot. I was stupid enough to believe that a movie that named real life actors as part of the cast would probably use them for much of the movie.

‘Gamer’ is a brutal movie.

Recommend it to your mortal enemies or anybody that has seriously p***ed you off lately.

COMMENTS

BRAD:"Hahaaa I probably could have told you that it was going to be a bad movie. I've never seen it but I know enough about video games and movies to know that they don't always mingle. The only exception would probably be Spiderman 2. That was one of the best movies to be put into a videogame. The worse has to be E.T. It nearly killed the videogaming industry and now thousands of copies are buried somewheres, that man shall never uncover. If it were, I'd fathom to say it would be similar to the unearthing of the Ark of the Covenant a la Indiana Jones."
