OXYGEN IN BOOZE-FINALLY ANOTHER USE FOR 02 BEYOND MERE BREATHING AND LIVING

alcohol and 02 aimgp9109Korean scientists are messing with booze and oxygen. The nerds in the white lab coats have found that booze mixed with oxygen has some good side effects. The experiments have shown that oxygen may prevent a severe ass-kicking hangover and allow drinkers to sober up more quickly.

CO2 is the usual guest of honor in booze and it has been invited to the party for a very long time in beer, wine and any other beverage that tastes great and loosens up the inhibitions and behavior boundaries in people. Booze is a Friday night’s best friend.

But it all boils down to basic science: Oxygen and alcohol are better dance partners in chemical reactions. Oxygen will reduce plasma alcohol concentrations quicker than C02.

In layman’s terms, oxygen will throw alcohol’s ass out the nearest exit quicker than CO2.

The study showed a 10-20% reduction in the time from drunk to sober in the boozehound test pilots.

The test subjects also appeared to be less ragged around the edges after the love has gone from the buzz.

The upside is a hangover with less bite when the next day comes a-knocking. This might cut down on the necessity to resort to bad hangover cure plans like a trip to McDonalds. Listen carefully, a Big Mac is only going to make matters worse for a hangover. You will pray for death.

So the oxygen booze may offer hope to the hopeless after a night of unchecked merriment and semi-clear memories. That is the upside.

Here is the downside to oxygen booze: The 10-20% quicker route to recovery will evaporate in an instant in the hands of a weekend warrior. Any idiot halfway into a good buzz is going to pick up the pace because he is bullet-proof in his own mind. The bar tab will be larger and common sense will be scarcer in this scenario. Proceed immediately back to square one, the one with a major hangover, even with oxygen booze.

You can’t work human nature into a chemical equation.

People and science don’t quite work that way.
