THE BEST STORY OF THE SUMMER ...AIDAN GETS TO GO TO A SHOW
Earlier this summer we ran a story about a young guy who really amazed us with his strength of character and love of cars. Aidan Fitzgerald is a nineteen year old guy who has battled muscular dystrophy for most of his life.
Our earlier story was about a car show that the local car guys brought to Aidan at the hospital.
The second part is a little different because Aidan went to the car show in the first week of September.
He was able to attend a regular Thursday night show because of the efforts of Denise Guillemaud, a dedicated hospital staff member who has developed a strong friendship with Aidan.

CRUISIN' THE DUB-A GREAT CAR GUY FUNDRAISER FOR THE MS SOCIETY
One of the best things about the old car world is the community spirit-individually car people are very much inclined to help out when the help is needed. That's why there were no surprises when a Red Deer Alberta Canada Thursday night drop-in car show included a trip to the local A&Ws to support an MS fundraiser.
A&W is synonymous with nostalgia-my older sister met her future husband at an A&W just after she bounced the fender of her Austin A40 off their drive-in support pillar.
A&W Canada combined a burger promotion that added a dollar per burger to the coffers of the MS Society...they knew that the car guys would come through with their support and take a trip down memory lane at the same time.
MS is an ongoing battle for its victims (having a family member affected by MS has taught me that) so even though the MS Cruisin' the Dub day is over here's a link to the MS Society site for more information.http://mssociety.ca/en/releases/nr_20100825.htm

Andrew Pankratz is a hands-on guy.
He's also a car guy and he loves the old iron so he welcomes vintage cars and trucks at his shop.
One of his most famous quotes is " I'm here to help car guys, if I wanted to make a lot of money I'd have become a lawyer."

MY STAR SPECIAL FEATURE-BACK TO THE 40S:1947 DODGE TEST DRIVE
I have always had a soft spot for the post-war late 40s Detroit automobile look which looked eerily like the pre-war early 40s Detroit look. You can’t send Cadillacs into combat zones and DeSotos made poor amphibious assault vehicles, so Detroit became lead manufacturer for the war effort in 1941.
Forget cars, the free world needed Sherman tanks until 1945.
