THE DOS EQUIS GUY.... FINALLY A HERO FOR MIDDLE-AGED GUYS WITH BEARDS

It is difficult to miss the Dos Equis guy these days. His commercials are sprinkled very generously throughout the TV schedule and they have been highly effective for the brewery.

The rakish bearded character has also become a very effective role model for older guys with beards.

The stylish role is played for laughs by a 72 year old New York born actor named Jonathan Goldsmith, but it is classy and understated humor.

The essence of the commercials is a god-like guy who has been the center of the universe for his entire life.

As a demographically middle of the pack baby boomer I came late to the Internet game...in 1998. Like most of the uninitiated, I thought that this world was simple but honest- full of geeks and "slaying dragons" video games.

Sure I'd heard about the copious amounts of porn on the net but generally I never thought about the cutthroat side of e-commerce.

Until the mystarcollectorcar.com name was hijacked by predatory marketing.

One of the most common engines found in resto-mods is the Chevy 350. They are plentiful, reliable and can be built into a monster with after-market parts.

The big question about a 350 is whether they belong in a non-General Motors product.

Lately a growing number of car guys are saying no to this question.

There used to be a universal rite of passage for every kid when he turned 16. The driving force was a first car and the subsequent first burst of freedom for its young owner.

Robbin Dawe had that mindset when he bought his first car in the late 60s as a 16 year old.

And now he's reunited with that first car ....
